ANITA ROSE MURRAY

Anita Rose Murray (nee Conti) passed away on June 25, 2026, at Colonel By Retirement Residence in Ottawa, five days after her 91st birthday. She was predeceased by her husband, George Murray, in 2007. Anita is survived by her loving daughter, Julie (Lauren); sister, Linda (Alastair); two adored grandchildren, Benjamin and Samuel; and many nieces and nephews. Born on June 20, 1935, in Cobalt, Ontario, Anita was the second youngest of six children and the first in her family to attend university. After graduating from North Bay Teacher's College in 1955, Anita taught elementary school in Haileybury before pursuing further education via correspondence at Brescia College at the University of Western Ontario, graduating with her BA in 1962. She later taught French at T.A. Blakelock High School in Oakville, where she met her husband, George. The couple married in 1967 and had a daughter, Julie, in 1970. Anita and George enjoyed an active retirement, traveling extensively and spending time with friends and family. In 2019, Anita moved to Ottawa to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren, spending her final years engaged in daily walks, reading, chair yoga, and socializing. Private services will be held.
