Mrs Ruth Wilma VanFleet

Ruth Wilma VanFleet passed away on July 23, 2026, at the age of 93. She is survived by her children, Paul and Karen Spencer, and her grandchildren, Jack and Lauren. Ruth was predeceased by her sisters Muriel and Phyllis, brothers Jim and Wilfred, and infant son John Allen. A devoted mother and grandmother, Ruth graduated from McMaster University and Hamilton Teachers' College, and taught in Hamilton and Burlington for several years. She enjoyed reading, duplicate bridge, and was a lifelong fan of the Yankees. Following her wishes, her body has been donated to McMaster Medical Centre for research. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the CNIB or the Canadian Diabetes Association. A private gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate her life.
