Filippo Cinelli

Filippo Cinelli passed away on May 5, 2026, in his 96th year. He was the beloved husband of the late Angela, with whom he was married for 67 years. Filippo was the loving father and father-in-law of Mark and Loretta Cinelli, cherished Nonno of Joseph and Laura, Isabella, Gianni, and Simonna, and Bisnonno to Julia and Noah. He was the son of the late Giovanni and Maria Cinelli and son-in-law to the late Giulio and Elvira Paolini. Filippo was the dearest brother and brother-in-law to the late Antonia and Leonardo Capoferri, the late Giustino and Silvia Cinelli, the late Gina and Sante Sacchini, Iolanda and Luigi D'Angelo, Veneranda and the late Amedio Moroni, the late Ezio Cinelli, Iolanda Cinelli, Rita and Pietro Maniccia, and the late Giovanni and Nella Veromontio of Italy, Cesare and Rina Paolini, and Dominic and the late Rose Paolini. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Linda Cinelli. Filippo will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, and friends. Born in Teramo, Abruzzo, Italy, Filippo immigrated to Canada in 1954 and began working at Stelco. He met his wife, Angela, and married in 1958. Together they built a life filled with family, laughter, love, and joy. Filippo will always be remembered for his stories and tid-bits of advice about life, his kind words and generous heart, making pasta and sausage with his grandchildren, the love of his garden and pets, as well as his amazing sponge cake. The family will receive family and friends at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral liturgy will be celebrated at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
