Fern Marie JOHNSTON

Fern Marie Johnston of Meaford passed away peacefully at Brightshores Owen Sound Hospital on June 22, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on April 19, 1942, in Owen Sound, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Pansy (nee Parker) Cathrae. Fern was predeceased by her husband of over 56 years, Wallace Arthur 'Wally' Johnston, on December 25, 2021. She is survived by her loving children, Marie Wilson (Ron) and Ed Johnston (Carolyn), and her cherished grandchildren, Adam and Lucas Johnston, Nathan (Mary), Jonathan, Mathew, and Bethany Wilson, along with her great-granddaughter, Emma. Fern was also predeceased by her infant son Steven, her brother Stan Cathrae (late Anne), her sister Marg Byers (Murray), sister-in-law Ellouise Hoggard (late Maurice), and brother-in-law Len Johnston. A dedicated nurse, Fern enjoyed caring for others and was actively involved in her church community. Family will receive friends at Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on June 29, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Cook Street Pentecostal Church on June 30, 2026, at 11 a.m., followed by a reception and interment at Lakeview Cemetery.
