Ms Gail Dawn LEET
Gail Dawn Leet passed away on May 20, 2025, at the age of 80. Born in Northampton, England, she came to Canada with her mother at six months old and settled in Markham in 1977. Predeceased by her father, Robert Joffre Leet, mother, Frances Joyce Leet, and lifelong friend and companion, Jean Watson. Survived by her sister, Janice Leet, and Janet Welburn, as well as many cousins and friends. Gail had a successful career as an IT professional at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and was a technology enthusiast. She was also an advocate for seniors, volunteering at the Markham Seniors' Activity Centre and serving on the City of Markham's Seniors' Hall of Fame and Seniors' Advisory Committee. Gail was honoured with a Platinum Jubilee Community Award in 2022 for her contributions to the Markham-Stouffville community. She was a founding member of the Making Markham Age-Friendly Group and a strong proponent for a residential hospice in Markham. Gail enjoyed photography, volunteering for Snapd Markham, and was a sports enthusiast, having been a former hockey goalie and avid fan of the Habs and Raptors.
