Doug Armstrong

William Douglas 'Doug' Armstrong passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital on July 26, 2026, at the age of 84. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth and his brothers-in-law Cecil Lamrock, Brian Cook, and Lonnie Cook. Doug is survived by his daughters Andrea Susan Illman and Alison Marie Armstrong, his sister Marion Lamrock, and his grandchildren Rachel Barnes, Lauren Illman, Diego Hernandez, and Bella Hernandez. A distinguished military career spanning 25 years took him around the world, serving in the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps and retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Following his military service, he had a 25-year career with Spar Aerospace and MD Robotics. A Celebration of Doug's Life will be held on August 29 at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home in Whitby, Ontario. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated in his memory.
