Cora Marie BRODIE
Cora Marie Brodie passed away on August 12, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on January 1, 1930, Cora was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Rose Anne, and her brother, Don. She was born on a farm on Leslie Street in Richmond Hill and worked the farm for many years with her family. Cora also worked for many years as a clerk in the hospitality industry. Her faith was a key element in her life, and she had a lifelong commitment to the United Church of Canada. She was a central force in church worship and outreach at Headford United Church, where she played the organ each Sunday until the church closed around 2019. After moving to Markham, Cora attended and later joined St. Andrew's United Church, where she enjoyed worship services and the friendship of church dinners and activities. She joined and chaired the Board, and also joined the church's UCW, supporting their outreach to many charities. Cora's association with the United Church extended beyond the local level, as she took on leadership roles at York Presbytery, Toronto Conference UCW, and the United Church of Canada's Toronto offices. She was a big supporter of the Mission and Service Fund, believing firmly in its wide outreach to those in need.
