Giorgio Anthony Mattioli

Giorgio Anthony Mattioli, born in Fano, Italy, on May 22, 1932, passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on August 21, 2026, at the age of 94. Immigrating to Canada in 1956 to join his father, Giorgio, known as George, established his life in Sault Ste. Marie after his father's return to Italy. He built a successful career as a master carpenter and manufacturer of quality wood products, taking great pride in his work and contributions to the community. George is lovingly remembered by relatives, friends, and business associates in both Canada and Italy, especially by his closest friend, Tina Archibald. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place, with inurnment occurring without formal funeral services. Donations in his memory may be made to the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) or a charity of choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre.
