George Joseph GIGNAC

George Joseph Gignac passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, at the age of 80. He was the beloved husband of Yvonne (nee Pepin) for 55 years. George was also the loving father of Donald (Heather) and Alain (Rachael) Gignac. He was proud to be the Pepère of André, Lily, John, and Charles. George was predeceased by his parents, Rita Jean and Absalon Gignac; his siblings, David, Hubert, Eva Schneider (Gerry), Mary Gillespie (Peter), Giselle Perkins; and his brother-in-law, Denis Pepin. He will be missed by his sister-in-law Valerie Gignac and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. George worked at Cyanamid, Welland Plant, retiring at 65 after dedicating 49 years of service. He was known for his care for animals, not only his pets, but also the cat colony at Cyanamid that he cared for like his own. Cremation has taken place. Interment with Rite of Committal will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Friday, February 13th, at 12 noon. Immediately following the burial, family will receive guests at the Morse & Son Event Centre, 5929 Main Street, Niagara Falls, from 1 to 3 o'clock in celebration of George's life. The family asks that you consider bringing a blanket for donation, which will be delivered to the Humane Society. Alternatively, donations may be made to the Niagara Falls Humane Society or to Ronald McDonald House, Hamilton.
