Shirley Jean (nee Valkema) Garnett

Shirley Jean Garnett, nee Valkema, passed away on July 26, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on October 8, 1933, in London, Ontario, she was the daughter of Ethel May Valkema Waun and stepdaughter of Gus Waun. She is survived by her children, Lynn Scott and her husband Don of Australia, and Timothy Clarkin, as well as her grandchildren, Charity, Courtney, and Marshall, and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her children David Clarkin and Laura Clarkin. Shirley was a devoted member of the Legion and enjoyed various activities, including playing darts, bingo, and dancing. Having lived in several countries, including Canada, France, Sardinia, England, and the US, she had a wealth of stories to share. Cremation has taken place, and as per her wishes, there will be no service or visitation. Arrangements were entrusted to McFarlane Roberts Funeral Home in London.
