Robert "Bob" Edwards
Robert (Bob) John Verdun Edwards passed away on May 24, 2026, at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife Ruth, son Chris, daughter Kim (Steve), and grandchildren Hannah, Donovan, Claire, Alex, and Audrey. Bob was also brother to Evelyn and Cam (Jane). He was predeceased by his parents, Verd and Zada Edwards, and his in-laws, Lloyd and Blanche Little. Born and raised in Wardsville, Bob spent his younger years playing hockey in Glencoe, bantam ball in Wardsville, and getting into mischief with his cousin Ken Willis. Professionally, he dedicated 30 years of service to Bell Canada. Bob was the best friend of the late Don McCurdy (1994), and together they shared countless memories fishing with friends and spending time at Berford Lake. In retirement, one of Bob's proudest projects was helping restore the Simpson Cemetery in Wardsville. In his later years he kept up with old friends at 'Coffee Club'. A lifelong Detroit Tigers fan, Bob proudly closed down Tiger Stadium with Chris at its final game in 1999 and later made one last trip to Comerica Park in 2023 with his entire family. His grandchildren were a joy and the light of his life, and the grand-dogs also held a special place in his heart. He rarely missed one of his girls' hockey games and only distance kept him from the kids' sports in Nova Scotia. The family asks that you cheer for the Tigers, take your family out for dinner, and insist on paying the bill in honour of Bob.
