Rattan Singh CHAHL

Rattan Singh Chahl passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at University Hospital, London, Ontario, surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of Gurcharan, whom he married in 1964. Rattan was the father of Mark, married to Nina, and Veena, married to Rob; and the grandfather of Avery, Bryce, Leila, and Amane. He was one of eight siblings. Rattan was born in pre-Independence British India and was displaced during the Partition of India in 1947. He later emigrated to England, where he completed his electronics engineering training, and then to Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1968, with his family, including his wife Gurcharan and son Mark. Their daughter Veena was born in Vancouver. The family moved to London, Ontario, in 1973. Rattan enjoyed a long career as a Maintenance Electrician at General Motors Diesel until his retirement in 2003. He was deeply committed to his faith and to serving his community, playing a key role in the construction of the London Sikh Society Gurdwara in the 1980s. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the London Health Sciences Foundation.
