John Stanley AXFORD

John Stanley Axford of St. Thomas passed away peacefully at AgeCare in Aylmer on August 25, 2026, at the age of 78. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lynda Axford, and their children Dan, Mandy, Sean, and Scott, along with grandchildren Alexis, Liam, Sophia, Jaxson, Grace, and Fyn. John was born in St. Thomas to the late Robert and Helen Axford. He cherished his family farm, where he lived for 15 years, and took pride in its upkeep. Known for his hard work, John enjoyed assisting friends and neighbors with renovations and improvements. He loved fishing trips, playing slow-pitch and basketball, and watching his grandchildren in their sports. An active member of the Optimist Club of St. Thomas, he founded the Talbot Trail Optimist Club and volunteered with the Salvation Army. A funeral service will be held at Faith Church on August 31, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with a private interment to follow. Donations to The Barrie Family Hospice of Elgin or a charity of choice are appreciated.
