Gary SQUIRE

Gary John Squire of London passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital on August 17, 2026, at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rose (Leamen) Squire; his sister‑in‑law Dorothy Squire of Goderich; his niece Debbie (Dean) Doherty of Southampton; his nephews Wayne Squire and Jeff (Erica) Squire of Goderich; and several great‑nieces and nephews. He is also remembered by his dogs Lily and Shelby. Predeceased were his parents Howard and Dorothy Squire, his brothers Donald and Douglas Squire, his sister‑in‑law Sheila Squire, and his infant nephew John Squire. Gary spent his early years on a family farm near Goderich, built a long career in the press room of the London Free Press and later at the Sarnia Observer, and after retirement worked part‑time at PartSource while pursuing his passion for antique and classic automobiles, notably restoring a 1931 Ford Model A that he showed at car shows for over fifty years. He also supported his wife’s line‑dancing classes as a DJ, and together they were season‑ticket holders for the London Knights. Cremation will be performed. A celebration of life service is scheduled for Monday, August 24, 2026, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, with visitation from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Private interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation are requested.
