Bruno MRKIC-PESTIC

Bruno Mrkić‑Pestić, 88, of London, Ontario, died peacefully on August 16, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born on November 21, 1937, in Bokanjac, Croatia, the son of Ante and Lucija Mrkić‑Pestić. After World War II, he pursued education, taught English, and later sought refuge in Italy before immigrating to Canada. In London he served for three decades as a librarian at the D.B. Weldon Library, University of Western Ontario. He was predeceased by his wife, Marija Mrkić‑Pestić, and his son, Illyrio Mrkić‑Pestić. He is survived by his daughters, Illyria and Natasha Pestich, son‑in‑law Dennis Lo, and grandson Idris Lo. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street, Richmond. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Woodland Cemetery.
