John Laurence ("Larry") DORE
John Laurence 'Larry' Dore passed away on May 21, 2026, in hospital at Valleyfield, Quebec, at the age of 81. He was the eldest son of the late Dr. John N. Dore and the late Mary Dore (nee Regan) and brother to Kevin (Karen) and Michael (Fran). Larry was born and raised in Hamilton and attended St. Patrick's Elementary and Cathedral Boys High School before obtaining his honours degree in history from St. Michael's College, University of Toronto. He subsequently completed his Master of Arts at the University of Waterloo, where he met Judi Hada. They were married in December 1971 and shared almost 55 years together. Larry and Judi are the proud parents of Patrick (Ashley), Jennifer, and Caitlin and have two granddaughters, Charlotte and Lydia. Larry was a dedicated teacher at high schools in Sudbury, Guelph, Hamilton (Cathedral), and Welland (Notre Dame), retiring as Head of the History Department at Notre Dame. He is survived by his wife Judi, children, and granddaughters, as well as his siblings, niece Regan Dore-Anderson (Roger), nephews Steven Dore (Heather), Ryan Dore (Nilusha), and Kevin Dore, and great-nephews Brooks, Colin, and Evan. Judi's sister, Sue Hada, and her spouse, Bob Luey, are also saddened by the loss of their brother-in-law and friend. In accordance with his wishes, Larry has been cremated.
