Steve THOMPSON

Steve Thompson died unexpectedly on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the age of 71 while on a family vacation in Collingwood. He was the husband of Louise, father of Shawna Kropf, Amber Tietz, Kailey Thompson and Steven Thompson, and grandfather of Peyton, Abby, Everley, Jacob, Clara, Gwennie and Beckett. He was the son of the late Peg and Bud Thompson, son‑in‑law of Beverley Parlett, and brother of the late Gregory Thompson and Mary‑Lou Linton. He was also brother‑in‑law to Margaret Mund, Paul Shaughnessy and Ted Shaughnessy. Steve is survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends, and his dog Sadie. Visitation will be held at Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and again on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the same funeral home on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception. The service will be streamed online. The family requests donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities in lieu of flowers.
