Stephen Stanley Gawlik passed away at Innisfree House on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the age of 92. He was the beloved husband of Esther Gawlik (née Herzog) for over 67 years. Stephen was the dear father of Christine Gawlik, Stephen (Kimberley) Gawlik, and Patricia (Ken) Bell. He was a loved grandfather of Kyle, Jayden, and Noah. Stephen was the dear brother of Mary Robson. He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Julia Gawlik, his brothers, Stefan and Walter (Lina) Gawlik, and brother-in-law, Jack Robson. Stephen was born in Preston and grew up in Guelph, finally moving to Kitchener where he was married and raised his family. He proudly served the City of Kitchener with the Kitchener Fire Department, where he retired in 1993 after over 32 years. Stephen's family will receive relatives and friends at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:45 p.m., where the funeral will be held in the chapel at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Carey Meadows-Helmer officiating. Interment will follow at Williamsburg Cemetery, Kitchener. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to Innisfree House or to St. Matthews Lutheran Church. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Innisfree House, St. Mary's Hospital, Grand River Cancer Clinic, and the Palliative Care team at Paramed.
