Robert Clair HOFSTETTER
Robert Clair Hofstetter passed away peacefully with family by his side at Lisaard House on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the age of 95. He was the beloved husband of the late Betty, who predeceased him on October 4, 2025, after over 52 years of marriage. Clair was the son of the late Milton and Annie (nee Dedels) and was predeceased by his siblings, Gerald (Helen), Helen Hofstetter, Ray (Colleen), and Joy White (Gord). He is survived by his brother-in-law, Lawrence Wicks (Gale) and Terry Wicks (Pat), as well as his nieces, nephews, and their families: John (Maria) Hofstetter, Susan Pautler (Chuck), Lib Noonan (late Bill), Mary Hofstetter, Anne Hofstetter-Quiggan (Ken), Steve Hofstetter (Jane), Judy Link (late Ralph), David White (Haidee), and Maryann White. Born in 1930, Clair grew up on a farm that now forms the Region of Waterloo International Airport. His family were devoted Christians, and Clair, as a young man, recognized Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and answered the call to pursue religious training. He began his studies at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, then attended Wheaton College and Graduate School for his BA (history) and MA (New Testament) and obtained his Bachelor of divinity at Gordon Divinity School, Boston. Upon returning to Canada, Clair was part of New church Outreach in Quebec. He spent tireless hours working with people planting, revitalizing, and pastoring churches: LaSalle Park Baptist, Kingston, ON, Forest Hills, Dartmouth, NS, and First Baptist Church, Sault Ste. Marie, ON. Upon retiring, Clair and his wife Betty continued their religious life at Benton Street Baptist Church in Kitchener, Ontario. The family expresses its deepest appreciation to the staff and volunteers at Lisaard House. Clair's family will receive relatives and friends from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Benton St. Baptist Church, 90 Benton St., Kitchener, with a reception to follow in the Church Hall.
