Monica Thompson

Monica Thompson passed away at WRHN @ Queen's Blvd. (formerly St. Mary's Hospital) on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on July 29, 1935, in Tattershall Bridge, Lincolnshire, England, to Harold and Annie Leonard, Monica was the middle daughter of a headmaster. She married Jim Thompson in 1960 and moved to Waterloo, Ontario, in 1967. Monica spent over 30 years teaching music and English as a second language in Waterloo Region. She was predeceased by her mother, father, older sister Barbara, younger sister Sylvia, and younger brother Alan. Monica is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Jim, son William and partner Lorraine, granddaughter Danhui, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. The family would like to thank Monica's family doctor, Dr. M F Dawood, and Dr. Richard Upenieks and the 7th floor team at St. Mary's Hospital for their care and compassion.
