Martin Oldengarm passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at WRHN at Midtown in Kitchener, ON, at the age of 84. He was the beloved husband of Jenny, cherished father to Jonathan Oldengarm and his wife Naomi Struik of Toronto, and special Opa to granddaughter Christina Oldengarm. Martin is also survived by his loving brother Herman (Jane) Oldengarm of Goderich, Grace (Dirk) Vandermale of Brampton, and Harry (Christa) Oldengarm of Cambridge; brother-in-law to Nelly (late Albert) Hagen of Hamilton, Marianne (Jerry) Kingma of Strathroy; Gary (Gretchen) Van Arragon of Guelph; Leo (Cathy) Van Arragon of Strathroy; Harma Badgley (Ken Laird) of Trenton; Wilma Van Arragon (Bob Lindahl) of Batavia, IL; Michael (Michelle) Parker of Frankford; and Wayne (Kim) Collinson of Mount Brydges. He will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends worldwide. Martin was predeceased by his parents, Jantina Joldersma (1996) and Geert Oldengarm (1994); and his sister-in-law, Geertje Bamford (2014). The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Community Christian Reformed Church, 1275 Bleams Rd., Kitchener. The memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Community Christian Reformed Church, followed by a reception. Private interment at Harriston, ON, Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to thank their friends and family, as well as the staff at WRHN, Winston Park, and home care workers for their support during Martin's illness. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Working Centre or to a trust fund for the care of Christina Oldengarm (cheques payable to Jonathan Oldengarm or Naomi Struik) would be appreciated by the family.
