Maria Tomic

Maria Tomic of Kitchener, Ontario, passed away on October 17, 2026, at the age of 86. She was predeceased by her husband Jon Tomic, her child Marioara, her parents Panta Stanciu and Sofia Stanciu, and her sister Persa (Gheorghe). Maria is survived by her children Jon, Persida, and Juliana Popesku (Jon); her grandchildren Lavinel Popesku, Jason Popesku, Julie Conte (Joe), and Janet Denzer (Jimmy); her great-grandchildren Victoria, Landon Popesku, Sal, Ryan Conte, David, and Elizabeth Denzer; her nieces Marioara Mohan (Josa) and Ohio; her siblings Anuta, Gheorghita, and Jon Muncan of Kitchener; and her cousin Juliana Kempijan of Kitchener. Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, located at 1001 Ottawa St S, Kitchener, ON N2E2X5. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM on the same day at the same location. The funeral service will occur on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the St. John the Baptist Romanian Orthodox Church, located at 2150 Bleams Rd, Kitchener, ON N2E3Y1. Following the service, a burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery, 119 Arlington Blvd, Kitchener, ON N2A2G8. If desired, memorial donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Romanian Orthodox Church.
