Kathleen "Kathy" Schmidt (Rettinger)

Kathleen 'Kathy' Schmidt (Rettinger) passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, at the age of 84, surrounded by her family in Kitchener. She was the beloved wife of the late Allan, who predeceased her in 2017. Kathy is survived by her children, Jeannette Ende and her husband Rick, Diana Villemaire and her husband Tom, Nancy Fulton and her husband Ted, and Rose Noonan. She was a cherished grandma to Michelle, Christopher, Scott, Laura, Gregory, Katie, Andrew, Jamie, and Becky, and a great-grandma to Hayden and Claire. Kathy was predeceased by her siblings Fritz, Herb, Mildred, Marge, Jim, and Dave. After dedicating many years to her work at Kaufman Footwear and Central Meat Market, Kathy enjoyed her retirement by spending time with her family and pursuing her hobbies, including painting and playing bingo. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 5:00-8:00 p.m., and a memorial liturgy will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
