John Harvey Hicks
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Harvey Hicks of Kitchener, Ontario. John Harvey was born on November 15, 1933, and he passed away on October 8, 2026, at the age of 92. He was predeceased by his parents, Cardinal Hicks and Hazel Hicks; his in-laws, Lloyd and Josephine Hopkins; his siblings, Howard, Melville, and Muriel Walter; as well as his siblings-in-law, Beulah Hicks, Tom Walter, and Doug Hopkins. John is survived by his beloved wife, Colleen Hicks; his daughters, Lynda Hicks and Darlene MacDonald (John); and his grandsons, Matthew and Mason MacDonald. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Marilyn Hicks and Marg Hopkins, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at the Henry Walser Funeral Home Ltd., located at 507 Frederick St, Kitchener, ON N2B2A5. A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location, followed by a burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery, located at 2723 Victoria St N, Breslau, ON N0B1M0, from 3:45 PM to 4:15 PM. The family requests that donations be made to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Waterloo Region, the Waterloo Regional Health Network Foundation, or Forest Hill United Church.
