John Emrich

John Gerhard Emrich passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the age of 78. He was the beloved husband of Rosemarie (née Hesch), a devoted father to Katherine (Chad) and Robert (Elysse), and a proud Opa to Sofia, Felix, and Greta. John will also be remembered by his brother, Dieter (Barbara), his sister-in-law, Jane Schertzer (Ron), and his nieces and nephews, Kristine Broughton (Trevor), Stephen Emrich (Christine), Eric Schertzer (Tallis), and Thomas Schertzer (Rachelle). He was predeceased by his parents, Sofia (2007) and Johann (2014). John enjoyed a distinguished accounting career with KPMG, retiring as Partner in 2008. Family and friends are invited to a visitation with refreshments on June 17, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, ON. A private family funeral will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society of Canada- Grand River Chapter.
