Herta Mertin

Herta Mertin passed away on February 14, 2026, at the age of 97. Born in Germany, she immigrated to Canada with her family in 1953 and resided in New Hamburg for many years. She was married to Eduard Mertin for 57 years, until his passing. Herta is survived by her children, Oswald and Harold, and their spouses, Gracia and Deb, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a close friend to Hugo Hintz. Herta worked at the Hahn Brass for many years and was a resident of The Village of Winston Park for the last two years. The funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Petersburg on February 21, 2026, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the WRHN Hospital Foundation or Emmanuel Lutheran Church through the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home.
