Michael Stankowitsch
Michael Stankowitsch passed away peacefully at Midtown Hospital on July 12, 2026, at the age of 85, following complications from a stroke and cancer. Born in Europe in 1940, Michael immigrated to Canada with his family after the Second World War and made Kitchener-Waterloo his lifelong home. He was a dedicated teacher who spent 26 years at St. Jerome's High School, serving as Head of the History Department, and later concluded his teaching career at St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School in Cambridge. Michael is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara Robb; his son, Mike Stankowitsch, and daughter-in-law, Kathleen; his grandson, Jakob; his daughter, Kali Solomon; his stepson, Brock Smith, and Brock's wife, Kelly Smith; his sister, Cathy Gruber; and his niece, Fran Miller, and her husband, Gary Miller. He was predeceased by his parents, Jakob and Anna Stankowitsch; his brother-in-law, Tony Gruber; and his niece, Susan Paisley. Arrangements are being handled by Tri-City Cremation Services.
