Wilma Miriam Anderson

Wilma Miriam Anderson (nee Tuovi) passed away on August 27, 2026, at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her husband, William James (Jim) Anderson, her sister Agnes Tuovi, brother Wilfred Tuovi, and sisters-in-law Vicki Tuovi and Betty Smith. Wilma is survived by her children, Bruce Anderson (Andrea Lawn) and Lynne Anderson, and will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Erika Nielsen (Graham Smith) and Peter Nielsen (Rebecca Rodley), as well as her great-grandson, Silas Nielsen Smith, and her nephews, Peter Tuovi (Dimi Ntantoulis), Jerry Smith, and Larry Smith. Born to Finnish immigrants Peter and Ida (Ketola) Tuovi in Webbwood, Northern Ontario, Wilma graduated from North Bay Normal School and the University of Western Ontario. She taught elementary school across six locations in Ontario and settled in Brockville in 1960. A visitation will be held at Irvine Funeral Home & Chapel, 4 James St. E., Brockville, Ontario, on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. Donations in memory of Wilma to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation, Brockville and Area Food Bank, or a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
