With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Sylvia Gloria Hayes (née Stobee) on August 16, 2026, at the age of 88, at the Friendly Manor Nursing Home in Deseronto. Born on October 17, 1937, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, she was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, James Jules Hayes; her parents, Adolf and Terese Stobee; and her sister, Edith Landgraff. Sylvia trained as a registered nurse and worked at various hospitals, including Calgary and Winnipeg General. She was an active member of the Kingston Seventh-Day Adventist Church, serving as a pianist and organist, and volunteered in the community. Sylvia is survived by her children, Barbara (Shane) Lakins, William (Carol-Anne) Hayes, and Beverly (Jacob) Affleck, as well as her nieces, Karen, Susan, and Lorna. The family expresses gratitude to the staff at Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Friendly Manor for their compassionate care.
