René Laporte

René Laporte, aged 77, of Wolfe Island, Ontario, passed away on August 21, 2026. Born in Kingston, Ontario, he was one of eight siblings and had a successful career as an industrial electrician. A passionate musician, René dedicated much of his life to playing the banjo and fiddle. He is survived by his daughter, Jocelyn (Gord); grandchildren, Oliver, Evelyn, and Alice; and his siblings, Norman, Claude, Lucien (Bev), Pierrette (John), and Richard (Annette), along with several nieces and nephews. René is resting at James Reid Funeral Home, located at 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, ON. A service will take place on Wednesday, September 2, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the James Reid Reception Centre and interment at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens.
