James Allan INGLIS
LCdr. (RCN) retired, M.Eng. P.Eng. James Allan Inglis passed away peacefully in Kingston, Ontario, on August 27, 2026, at the age of 94. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret Elaine (née Mercer), his younger brother Terry Patrick, and his sister Sandra Elaine Stewart. Allan is survived by his children Bruce (Natalie), Ross, Gary, Donna (Haig), and Sandy (Chris); ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers Neil (Beth), Norman (Jean), Kelly (Beth), brother-in-law Mike Stewart, and numerous nieces and nephews. The eldest of six, Allan grew up on a farm in Matsqui, BC, and excelled academically. He graduated from Royal Roads Military College in 1952 and served 25 years in the Royal Canadian Navy before joining the federal public service. Allan was actively involved in the Scottish Country Dancing community and cherished time spent at their cottage on Bob's Lake, where he enjoyed hosting family and friends.
