Ariel SLEETH

Ariel Sleeth passed away on August 4, 2026, at the age of 102, surrounded by her family in Kingston, Ontario. Renowned for her purebred Collies and Shelties under the kennel name Sovereign Kennels, Ariel contributed a monthly column to Dogs In Canada magazine for many years and was a dedicated member of the Canadian Kennel Club since 1948. Her passion for dogs took her across Canada, the USA, and Australia, where she judged specialty shows and conducted seminars on 'Predictable Breeding'. A significant milestone in her career was winning at the Westminster Dog Show in the 1950s with her Collie, Ch. Sovereign Dougie's Choice. Ariel was married to Floyd for over 75 years until his passing in 2018. She is survived by her sons Don (Lucie) and David (Joy), daughter Laurie (Ken), grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ariel was predeceased by her husband Floyd, daughter Holly, and grandson Adam. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Robert J. Reid & Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kingston Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
