Lieutenant Commander Earl W., OMM, CD Campion

Lieutenant Commander Earl W. Campion, OMM, CD, passed away on August 24, 2026, at the age of 81, following a battle with pancreatic cancer that spread to his lungs. He is survived by his devoted wife Ellie, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage; his son Michael (Simone Petriw) and grandson Oscar; his daughter Joy (Chad English) and grandsons Bodhi and Henry; as well as his siblings Shirley, Bruce (Faye), and Beryl (Wayne), along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Earl was the youngest of five siblings and was predeceased by his parents, Gladys and Eugene, and his sister Doreen. Born in Souris, Manitoba, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1962, serving for 39 years in various roles, including an exchange with the Royal Navy and as Commanding Officer of CF Station Shelburne, NS. After retiring from the Navy, he worked at National Defense Headquarters in Ottawa for 11 years. In retirement, Earl and Ellie enjoyed summers at their cottage and traveled extensively with Holland America Cruise Line. A visitation will take place at Kelly Funeral Home Kanata Chapel on September 2, 2026, from 6 PM to 8 PM, followed by a memorial service at Kanata United Church on September 4, 2026, at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
