JOHN "HAPPY" HYNES

Mr. John 'Happy' Hynes, formerly of Montréal and Toronto, passed away in Hawkesbury on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the age of 88. He was the son of the late George Mortimer Hynes and the late Gwendolyn Stapleton. John is survived by his son Andrew and his wife Cinda, his stepdaughter Helen Hawkins, his siblings Gordon and his wife Ginette, and Maureen Madore and her husband Louis, as well as his daughter-in-law Wendy, and his grandsons Micheal and Christopher. He was predeceased by his sons John Jr. and Glenn, and his brothers Jim and Ross. John had a successful career in the financial industry in Montréal and Toronto. He was knowledgeable about Canada's participation in World War II and enjoyed watching boxing and the Toronto Blue Jays. John was proud of his 40 years of sobriety and his service work in The Program. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Prescott Russell Residence for their excellent care over the last six years. A celebration of John's life will be held at Berthiaume Family Funeral Home in Hawkesbury, Ontario, on Saturday, July 25th, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a ceremony in Armande's Garden at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. The funeral home will also make a donation in John's memory to the Food Bank.
