John Carl GERTH
John Carl Gerth, formerly of Linwood, passed away peacefully at The Village Seniors Community in Hanover on February 17, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on November 15, 1934, in Wellsley Township to the late Carl and Pauline Gerth, he was employed by E&E Seegmiller Construction for most of his life. Despite his diabetes, he remained active and enjoyed various activities, including cutting the grass at home and the cemetery, where he volunteered. He also loved to walk and occasionally visited the casino for entertainment. Predeceased by his lifelong companion of 65 years, Ruth (nee Koenig) Gerth, he is survived by sons Doug (Carolyn) Gerth of Fordwich and Darryl Gerth of Kitchener. He was a loving grandfather to Trishalyn (Warren) Rogers, Jayme (Erin) Gerth, Christa (Jermaine) James, Niki Gerth, and great-grandfather to Jayden, Brooklyn, Chase, Cody, Ethan, Maya, Addilynn, and great-great-grandfather to Jayce. He was also a special grandpa and great grandpa to Karen (Jason) Hewitson and their children, Braiden, Chloe, Savannah, and Presley. Cremation has taken place, and a private inurnment will be held in the spring. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at The Village Seniors Community, particularly Lattoya, for their care. Memorial donations to the St. Peter's Lutheran Church - Linwood would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
