Yvan Roy, in his 82nd year, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, at the Hamilton General Hospital. Born on February 24, 1943, in Stornoway, Lac Mégantic, Quebec, to Albertine Bolduc and Gerald Roy, Yvan grew up in Milan, a small village, with his seven siblings. He later moved to Ontario with his grandfather and met his future wife through friends. They married and had twins, Brenda and Brian, in 1971. Yvan worked as a cement truck driver for 25 years and enjoyed playing guitar with friends and family. He founded The Hamilton Horseshoe Pitching Club and formed a non-profit organization in 1978. Yvan is survived by his children, Brenda and Brian (Shannen); his granddaughters, Brytney (Jordan) and Stivi (Chris); and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Zoey, Grayson, and Aurora. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; siblings, Rene, Reganne, Hugette, and Gaetan; his mother, Albertine; and father, Gerald. Visitation will be held at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Paroisse Notre-Dame Du Perpétuel Secours, 132 Blake St, Hamilton, at 1:00 p.m.
