William Johnston (Bill)

William 'Bill' Johnston passed away on February 20, 2026, just shy of his 90th birthday. Born on March 28, 1936, in Grangemouth, Scotland, Bill was predeceased by his parents, siblings Angus, Ishbel, Ann, and Seonaid, and his infant daughter Sheila Ann. He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Sheila, and his children Karen and Bill. Bill will be deeply missed by his four grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Katie, and Alexea, as well as his brother Iain, cousin and longtime travel partner Bill Niblo, and his wife Linda, brother-in-law James Trotter, nieces, nephews, and many friends. A long-time employee of Procter and Gamble, Bill was a proud member of the Hamilton soccer community and was inducted into the Hamilton Soccer Hall of Fame. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, April 4, at the Powerhouse in Stoney Creek, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., with a service at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to East Hamilton Soccer Club are appreciated.
