Wilhelmina Groen (Wilma)

Wilhelmina 'Wilma' Groen (née Vandenberg) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on March 7, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on August 28, 1946, in Gouda, South Holland, the Netherlands, Wilma immigrated to Canada with her family when she was five years old, first settling in Chilliwack, British Columbia, before moving to Hamilton, Ontario, in 1959. Wilma married Neil Groen in 1965, and they lived in Jerseyville, where together they lovingly raised six children. Wilma was a devoted mother, who was constantly busy with her children, taking them to and supporting them at various activities. She was a devoted school bus driver for Ancaster area schools and later worked at the Ancaster Senior Achievement Centre. Wilma was also an avid gardener and recipient of many Trillium awards from the City of Hamilton. She is survived by her loving children: Tracey (Owen), Jim (Laurie), Cliff (Kierstin), Deb (Jan), Murray, and Ray (Vanessa); her cherished grandchildren: Gamal (Emma) and Hayley (Nick).
