Walter ANDERS

Walter Anders passed away on March 31, 2026, at the age of 92, in Hamilton, Ontario. Born on October 13, 1933, in Garki, Poland, to Erna and Michael Anders, Walter was the son of farmers of German descent. His education was disrupted by World War II, after which he and his family became refugees in Bielefeld, Germany, where he qualified as a Millwright and Industrial Mechanic. Walter immigrated to Canada in 1956 and worked various jobs before joining Rheem Canada in Hamilton, where he spent over 30 years and retired as Plant Engineer and Maintenance Manager in 1991. He served as an Area Councilor and Regional Councilor for Haldimand-Norfolk County from 1988 to 1997 and held positions on several boards, including the Hald-Nor Credit Union and Mohawk College Industrial Trades Advisory Board. Walter was a dedicated hobby farmer, active church member, and enthusiastic participant in various community organizations and activities, including curling and euchre.
