Rita Tartaglia (nee Alfieri)
Rita Tartaglia, nee Alfieri, passed away peacefully at St. Peter's Hospital on July 22, 2026, at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her husband, Donato, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage, as well as her parents, Nicola and Anna Maria Alfieri, and her parents-in-law, Pasquale and Maria Tartaglia. Rita is also predeceased by several siblings and siblings-in-law, including Domenic Alfieri, Assunta Alfieri, Yolanda Crapsi, Matteo, Vincenzo, and Ida Petrunti. She will be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and cousins in Canada and Italy. Born on April 3, 1938, in Santa Croce di Magliano, Rita immigrated to Canada in 1958 to marry Donato. The couple shared a love of travel and music, with Rita being a member of the Coro Abruzzese. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at St. Peter's Hospital and to Lisa Karl and Gloria Vidovich for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL on July 27, 2026, followed by a funeral mass at St. Catherine of Siena Parish on July 28, 2026, and entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hamilton Health Sciences or the Cancer Assistance Program would be appreciated.
