Margaret Geraldine "Gerry" PRETSCH

Margaret Geraldine 'Gerry' Pretsch passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, at the age of 87, after a long illness at Ressam Gardens Long Term Care Home. Born on October 5, 1938, she is lovingly remembered by her son John Pretsch, daughter Julianna Pretsch, and sister Barbara Leblanc. Gerry was predeceased by her husband Edwin Pretsch, with whom she enjoyed 47 years of marriage. She was the daughter of Nicholas and Margaret Roach. Gerry grew up in Iroquois Falls, northern Ontario, and went on to graduate from nursing school at the Hospital for Sick Children and later McGill University. Throughout her life, she lived in several cities, including Vancouver, London, Toronto, and finally Hamilton. Gerry worked as a nurse educator at Saint Joseph's Hospital and with the Lung Association in Hamilton. A celebration of her life will be held at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton, Ontario, on Saturday, April 25th, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada are welcome.
