Lloyd VERNON
Lloyd Vernon passed away suddenly on June 16, 2026, at Juravinski Hospital, at the age of 90. He was born on January 20, 1936, in Montego Bay, Jamaica, to James and Mae Vernon. Lloyd and his wife Norma migrated to Canada in 1964. He was a proud father of five children: Patricia, Collin, Derron (Amanda), Sandra (Wendell), and Gary (Mani). Lloyd was fond of his daughters-in-law, Tracy and Elizabeth. He was a devoted grandfather to Tyrell, Keanan, Brenden, Alyssa, Owen, Aisha, Antoine, and Zayne. A loving great grandpa to Tyson, Laila, Kairo, and Kannon. Lloyd was a caring son, brother, uncle, friend, and mentor to many. He retired from Stelco with over 30 years of service, where he was the chief union steward and the chief health and safety officer. Lloyd enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and he loved the game of cricket. He was an active member in the Hamilton community, a founding member of the Jamaican Foundation of Hamilton, and a loyal supporter of the Hamilton Caribbean Women's Group. Lloyd is survived by his younger siblings, Wesley (Florida, USA) and Jean (Windsor, Ontario). The family would like to thank the staff, doctors, and nurses at Westmount Terrace Senior Centre and the doctors and nursing team at Juravinski Hospital for their care and support.
