Leon Paul Sauers
Leon Paul Sauers passed away on February 15, 2026. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, he grew up on a fruit farm in Stoney Creek. His life was dedicated to transportation, beginning with a single dump truck and growing into a fleet of transport trucks that specialized in moving oversized freight across North America. He was a hobby pilot who played a key role in developing the original Stoney Creek Airpark in the 1970s. He was also an advocate for the development of the Red Hill Expressway. Leon was married to Carol for 62 years and is survived by his daughters Leanne, Lori, and Leslie, and his eight grandchildren. A private family service will be held. The family invites those who wish to honour Leon's memory to make a donation to Shalom Village Long-Term Care in Hamilton.
