Laura (Lauretta) Fortino (Caruso)
Laura Fortino, peacefully passed away with family by her side, including her dear brother, Eugenio, on April 23, 2026, at the age of 95. She was the beloved wife of the late Francesco Fortino. Laura was a loving mother and mother-in-law of Maria and her husband Salvatore Taormina, and Marco and his wife Patricia Sienna-Fortino. She was a much loved and devoted grandmother to Danielle and her husband Edward Perry, Vanessa and her husband Thomas Perry, Francesco, and Gianluca. Laura was also an amazing great-grandmother to Claire, Max, Isla, Isaac, and Eloise. She was predeceased by her parents, Pietro and Marianna Caruso, and her in-laws, Ignazio and Finita Fortino. Laura is also predeceased by her siblings, Ignazio, Pierina, Ernesto, Assunta, Giuseppe, Angela, Armando, and Ada Caruso, as well as her siblings-in-law, Michele and Anna Fortino. She will be sadly missed by her brother, Eugenio, and his late wife, Antonietta Caruso, as well as her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in Canada, Italy, and the USA. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Queen's Garden Long Term Care Residence, specifically Mountain Brow neighbourhood. Laura will be resting at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. East, on Sunday, May 3rd from 1:30 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be held on Sunday. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations to McMaster Children's Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
