Kiriacos "Jack" TARPOS

Kiriacos "Jack" Tarpos died peacefully on August 13, 2026, at Hamilton General Hospital at the age of 91. He was born in Tihio, Kastoria, Greece, in 1934 and immigrated to Canada in 1952. A chef and restaurateur, he founded The Village Restaurant in Stoney Creek in 1970 and later operated The Village Chalet, The Old Farm Inn in Smithville, and Big Jack's in Bismarck for 25 years. He was the devoted husband of Ourania (Nicki), married for 69 years, and father of Helen, Irene (Rick Vanderwal), Anastasios and the late Sophia (Lou Perry), as well as a grandfather to Evan Wright and Trevor Vanderwal. Cremation has been completed. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA.
