Josip (Joe) RIBARIC

Josip (Joe) Ribaric passed away on February 10, 2026, at the age of 87. He was the beloved husband of Marica (nee Sopcic) for 59 years. Joe was also the proud father of Steve (Maria) and Joey (Christine), and cherished Deda to Anthony and Lucas. He was predeceased by his parents, Stjepan Ribaric and Ana and George Ladika, as well as his stepsisters, Mary Rodgers and Sophie Bissonnette. He is survived by his mother-in-law, Dragica Rahija, his brother-in-law, Ivan Sopcic, and niece and nephew, Maryann Fabrizio and Nicholas Sopcic, and their sons, as well as cousins, Drago Petrina and Ljubica Velican, and their families, and extended family and friends here and in Croatia. Joe was born in Orljakovo, Karlovac, Croatia. He immigrated to Canada in 1961, first settling in Northern Ontario in South Porcupine, and later made his way to Hamilton where he put down roots, married, and raised a family. He worked in Dofasco for 26 years before retiring. A man of faith, Joe enjoyed his connection to the Croatian community and was a long-time member of the Croatian National Home as well as HDZ and Club Karlovac. Resting at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton for visitation on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Prayers will be held at 4 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Parish, 1883 King Street East, Hamilton on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, Stoney Creek.
