Hans Werner Marela

Hans Werner Marela passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on June 21, 2026, at the age of 74. Born in 1952 in Duisburg, Germany, he was the son of the late Werner and Helga Marela. Hans is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Marela, and their children, Lauren Hill and Kate Marela-Crowell, as well as his grandchildren, Blake and Brooklyn Hill and Brynn Crowell. He is also survived by his nephew, Augie Marela, his mother-in-law, Doreen Knight, and brother-in-law, David. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the medical staff at Juravinski and Verspeeten Cancer Clinics, Hamilton Health Sciences, and London Health Sciences Centre for their compassionate care. A Memorial Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home in Hamilton on July 6, 2026, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Funeral Home Chapel on July 7, 2026, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Chatham-Kent Hospice in memory of Hans.
