Gildo Della MAESTRA

Gildo Della Maestra passed away on March 26, 2026, in his 83rd year. He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Paula Arena. Gildo was the proud father to Marco Della Maestra and his wife Joanne, and Denny Della Maestra and his wife Lindsay. He was a loving Nonno to Logan, Bianca, Luke, Jackson, and Felix. Gildo was the dear brother and brother-in-law to Miranda Quattrin, whose husband Mario predeceased her, Lucia, Josie Eleftheriou and her husband Mike, and Harry Arena and his wife Susan. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Ladino, Nisio, Bruno, Ettore, and Silvano, and their wives, Miranda, Esther, Silvana, and Irma. Gildo will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy, and the UK. After a successful career at Universal Handling, Gildo enjoyed 20 years of retirement. He loved spending his summers in his beautiful vegetable garden, his weekends watching soccer and Formula One, and especially spending quality time with all his grandchildren and dogs. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Juravinski Hospital for making Gildo's final days extra comfortable. Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Rd. E., on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with prayers at 8:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Parish, 20 Idlewood Ave., on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre would be appreciated.
