George Boyd Millar

George Boyd Millar passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, in his 105th year. He was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor (nee Tracie), and his second wife, Christine Burns. He is survived by his children, Pat Ponting, Kathie Thurston, and Joanne Candelora (Rocco), and his grandchildren, Susan (Brad), David (Melanie), Jenny (Mike), Michael (Becky), Sarah (Carmelo), and Mark. He was also a great-grandfather to Brayanna, Madalynne, Jason, Paul, Sam, and David. George was a retired 45-year employee of Stelco and dedicated his life to volunteering in the community, serving in various capacities, including Director/President of Big Brothers Hamilton, President of the Board of Trustees at St. Joseph's Villa Dundas, Acting Executive Director of Participation House, Acting CEO of St. Joseph's Villa, Temporary CEO of St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, and President of its board. He was a long-time member and past president of the curling club at Hamilton Thistle Club and president of its parent body club. A private family service will take place as per George's wishes. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
