Elizabeth "Betty" Petis (nee Nemeth)

Elizabeth 'Betty' Petis, nee Nemeth, passed away on July 24, 2026, at the age of 89. Born to Hungarian immigrant parents, she grew up in Delhi and pursued a career in nursing, serving with compassion at Hamilton General and Norfolk General Hospitals. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Mike, and son, Michael. She is lovingly remembered by her brother, Alex and Mary Nemeth; children, Patty-Suki Fox, Julie and Lou Parco; grandchildren, Asia Petis and William, Melissa and Rodney Bierhuizen, Adam and Natalie Parco, and five great-grandchildren; niece, Sarah and Tyler Lasko; nephew, Matthewe Nemeth; and five great-nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, with prayers starting at 5 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hamilton General Hospital and the Our Lady of Assumption Building Fund.
